Aaron Murray

J. They had to find a way to do one better, so they decided to send a second team to the title game. When Alabama and LSU met, it really should have been the second time that this big game had been played between conference rivals that had played a tight game in the regular season. In 2006, we felt that Michigan and Ohio State should have played for the national championship, because Ohio State’s home field advantage was 5.5 points, and the Buckeyes won by three in the regular season. Of course, Florida showed Ohio State that the SEC was too powerful.

The last time the SEC did not win the title, Vince Young quarterbacked Texas to a last minute win over Southern California, with Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, and LenDale White.

With the addition of Missouri and Texas A the SEC needed another bowl contract, so now this league has ten bowl tieins.

Texas A has three other major tieins with the SEC. Three famous SEC coaches had raidersofficialonline.com/99_lamarr_houston_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap Aggie ties. General Robert Neyland played football for a season at A before he received an appointment to the United States Military Academy. Bear Bryant was the A coach prior to taking over at his alma mater. Gene Stallings played for Bryant at A and later became the head coach there. Stallings became the coach at Alabama and won a national championship there.

Missouri has one gigantic contribution to not just the SEC but to all college football. The Tigers were the team that first introduced the option play to football. Coach Don Faurot, the father of the SplitT offense, first began to use the regular (double option) at Missouri. The splitt was the forerunner of the veer and wishbone offenses and even today’s zone read option from the spread formation.

The SEC media poll featured 222 voters. Here is how the voting went.

Can year two of the Coach Will Muschamp era in Gainesville replicate the feats of the two previous coaching geniuses at the Swamp? In Steve Spurrier’s second year, the Gators went 70 in the SEC. In Urban Meyer’s second year, Florida won a national championship.

Muschamp returns 10 defensive starters, although one of those (end Ronald Powell) is injured and will not be available until October. The Gators were stingy last year, giving up 20 points and 300 yards per game, and this group could chop those numbers down to 17 points and 275 yards per game this year.

Up front, Sharrif Floyd and Omar Hunter form an excellent tandem at tackle. Floyd does more than protect his linebackers; he gets into the offensive backfield and disrupts running plays. Ends Lerentee McCray and Dominique Easley both registered 7 tackles for loss last year. McCray actually played linebacker last year and switches to the “buck” end (part end/part linebacker).

Speaking of linebacker, the Gators’ top defensive player returns to the Mike position. Jonathan Bostic led the Gators with 94 tackles. He recorded three sacks and 10 total tackles for loss. Jelani Jenkins can do it all; he can blitz and dump a passer; he can stop a runner for little or no gain; and he can cover a receiver in the underneath zones like a cornerback.

The Gators have an excellent group of defensive backs. All four starters from last year are back, as well as the nickel and the top reserve. Safety Matt Elam is a smaller version of Jenkins; he can fill up a stat sheet with sacks, tackles for loss, interceptions and passes defended.

The offense lacked the oomph that past Gator teams had. The scoring average dropped to its lowest number since 1992. In SEC, the Gators failed to average 300 yards per game. Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis took the Kansas job, and former Boise State offensive coordinator Brent Pease takes over.

Pease does not have a Kellen Moore passing to Titus Young and Austin Pettis. In fact, the Gators don’t even have a solid number one quarterback. Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett are liable to continue competing for the starting job well into the season. Driskel will start against Bowling Green on Saturday, but he has not secured the spot. In limited action for both last year, they teamed for 354 yards and two touchdowns against six interceptions. Neither completed 50% of his passes.

With the losses of Chris Rainey and Jeff Demps, last year’s number three back takes over as starter. Mike Gillislee actually had the highest rushing average of the trio, as he rushed for 5.9 yards per try.

Muschamp doesn’t have a big star among his wideouts, but Andre Dubose made the most of his 16 catches last year. He averaged 27 yards per reception and scored four touchdowns. Frankie Hammond, Quinton Dunbar, tight end Jordan Reed and fullback Trey Burton give the QBs multiple aboveaverage receivers, but none of these guys will become allAmericans.

The offensive line must deal with an injury to tackle Matt Patchan, but there is enough depth in the trenches to keep the offense moving. Guards Jon Halapio and James Wilson join center Jonotthan Harrison in the middle.

Caleb Sturgis is the top kicker in the league. He was 100% accurate on PATs, and he connected on 22 of 26 field goal attempts. Two of those four misses were from 50 or more yards. He made three from 50 or more, including a 55yarder.

The Gators have a weird schedule this year, because they were saddled with putting both Texas A and Missouri on their slate. UF closes their conference schedule on November 3, and then they play three nonconference games to end the season. In past years, they always took advantage of playing two patsies prior to the Tennessee game. Now, they have a trip to Texas A the week before heading to Knoxville. We like this team’s talent and think they could compete for the East Division crown, but the Gators will have a hard time splitting their first four league games.

The Bulldogs lost their first two games and their last two games, but won the 10 games in between last year. Those four losses came to teams that went a combined 476.

Coach Mark Richt welcomes back his starting quarterback and five of his top six receivers. Aaron Murray is one of three potential AllAmerican quarterbacks in the SEC. He tossed 35 touchdown passes, while completing 59% of his passes for 3,149 yards.

Murray has three receivers returning that caught 30 or more passes. Tavarres King had 47; Malcolm Mitchell had 45; and Michael Bennett had 32. King and Mitchell can burn a secondary with a quick six.

The loss of Isaiah Lamarr Houston Authentic Jersey Crowell may end up being addition by subtraction. Ken Malcome will try to hold off a couple of true freshmen. Keith Marshall and Todd Gurley were both highlyrated running backs.

The one area of concern on this side of the ball is in the trenches. There are no big stars here, and one of the expected starters (Kolton Houston) cannot gain eligibility because he continues to test positive for a banned steroid used on an injury two years ago during a shoulder surgery. Two line starters are back.

Defensive coordinator Todd Grantham did a great job with the defense last year, as UGA gave up just 277 yards per game. With 12 of the top 13 tacklers returning, the Junkyard Dogs will continue to bark.

Let’s start at linebacker, where the ‘Dogs are loaded at this spot, possibly the tops in the land. Jarvis Jones frequently made it to the drop back point Lamarr Houston Black Jersey before the quarterback! He led the SEC with 13 sacks, and he added six more tackles for loss. Unbelievably, he was credited with 49 QB hurries. Michael Gilliard finished third on the team with 65 tackles, and he was a jack of all trades with a pair of sacks, seven TFL, and four passes defended. A couple of linebackers, Chase Vasser and Alec Ogletree face one game suspensions, but the Bulldogs can beat Buffalo without them.

The threeman defensive line returns intact this year. Nose tackle John Jenkins tips the scale at more than 350 pounds. He can sit and take up two gaps. Ends Abry Jones and Cornelius Washington teamed up for nine sacks and 49 QB hurries.

The secondary benefitted from an excellent pass rush, and they responded by allowing less than 51% www.raidersofficialonline.com/99_lamarr_houston_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap.html completions and 176 passing yards per game. Safety Shawn Williams led the Bulldogs with 72 tackles and four interceptions. His counterpart at the other safety position is Bacarri Rambo, a first team AllAmerican, is one of a handful of players facing a suspension at the beginning of the year.

A Tebow Christmas Wish

Dear Santa: I’ve been a good football fan this season. I have watched my favorite team, the Philadelphia Eagles, have an extremely disappointing season, yet still rooted passionately for them. I had a bad fantasy football year yet still dutifully made roster changes until the bitter end. I’ve even watched the second coming in the form of Tim Tebow during the Denver games that have been on national television.

I could ask you for a slew of gifts this year such as a new coaching staff for the Eagles, or for their division rival the Dallas Cowboys to miss the playoffs. But I have only one wish: a www.raidersofficialonline.com/94_kevin_burnett_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap.html one day Tim Tebow news blackout. On Christmas Day.

Tebow Mania has Kevin Burnett Authentic Jersey grown into epic proportions. It has Kevin Burnett Black Jersey seeped into mainstream media with recent name checks in the New York Post’s gossip column, NBC’s Access Hollywood, and even a skit on Saturday’s Saturday Night Live of Tim Tebow and his fellow Mile High teammates getting a visit from Jesus.

Instead of endlessly hearing about what a great person Tebow is, here are five other potential stories I propose for Christmas Day:

1.) Start a rumor skier Lindsay Vonn is dating New England head coach Bill Belichick

2.) New York Jet safety Antonio Cromartie (who has 9 kids with 8 women) vows to sign a faithfulness pledge to one woman, ala Newt Gingrich

3.) Indy QB Peyton Manning acquiesces play calling to Andrew Luck, takes over Jon Gruden’s MNF Booth duties after Gruden steps down to teach NFL Mascot School

4.) Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh rescues a cat out of a tree and helps an old lady cross the street in Detroit

5.) Brett Favre shows up in the huddle in his Wranglers to call the plays as QB for the Bears on Sunday

Santa, can you please ask the powers that raidersofficialonline.com/94_kevin_burnett_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap be to take a day off from the Tebowfication of America and please let us enjoy our holiday in peace? I promise I’ll bake extra cookies (without Tebow’s face on them) for you if bring me this Christmas miracle. Happy Holidays!

A review of the Miami Marlins

Are they really rebuilding? A review of the Miami Marlins offseason

New Miami Marlins manager Mike Redmond is certainly going to have his work cut out for him after Miami traded away all of its talent this offseason. In the first title run, it was see you later Garry Shefield, Moises Alou, Kevin Brown and Bobby Bonilla. After a second championship,Carlos Delgado, Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett were all asked to pack their bags. During both sales, Miami did change hands in ownership and looked to rebuild, watching players such as Miguel Cabrera and Dan Uggla also find new homes. As frustratedfans watched the Miami Heat go out and get the likes of LeBron James and Chris Bosh, winning an NBA championship one year after obtaining the superstars, their baseball team was back to their old ways of extreme ups and even more extreme downs.

The seats of the once sold out Sun Life Stadium were empty. The team faithful followers simply quit believing. Miami management used its usual solutionfor thisreoccurringproblem, though, throwing more money at the troubled franchise. So one multimillion dollar new stadium later and a fresh, new name change, gave us the Miami Marlins. A new start and a new hope was marketed to Fish fans as the front officefrivolouslyspent its newly acquired cash to obtain highly touted free agents like Jose Reyes, Mark Buerhle and Heath Bell.

With the addition of three new stars, a snazzy new stadium and a rebranded image, the Marlins had some high hopes for 2012. However, as in the past, the wheels fell off. Players under performed. Newlyhired manager Ozzie Guillen was more of a headache than a leader. The latest fire sale could be seen from miles away. The blazes began with a blockbuster trade that could easily trump the monster move of 1998 that sent Sheffield, Bonilla, Charles Johnson and Jim Eisenreich to the Dodgers for Mike Piazza (traded to the Mets just months laters) and Todd Zeile. Miami showed its former colors, shipping Reyes, Buerhle, Josh Johnson and John Buck to the Toronto Blue Jays for practically peanuts. The trade, which actually followed another deal that landed Bell in Arizona, was Miami white flag. East in 2012.

The aftermath of this blockbuster trade could still pay off because Miami did get several of Toronto talented prospects. Dickey. This offseason has truly been one to forget if you a Marlins fan and it hurts even worse after watching Hanley Ramirez get dealt to the Dodgers during the 2012 season. While it obvious that Miami is rebuilding, I seriously question the way they going about the tedious process.

Most teams that rebuild will at least keep some cornerstone pieces. It doesn appear the Marlins will do that as Giancarlo Stanton and Ricky Nolasco names have already appeared on the chopping block. If they traded before this year deadline, which is very likely, it would be safe to say that the Marlins arecompletelyabandoning ship. I honestly believe those players won be in Miami for long and if that the case, all will be lost for this franchise trying to rebuild itself. It like the front office has given up, preparing for the worst.

The ones who suffer won be those team executives, but rather the fans, who have to watch thisdismantlingof the Marlins happen for a third time. One would think that if the franchise is going to disrespect its followers that at least they would make it look like they were trying to put together a winner. General Manager Michael Hill is no Billy Beane. He hasn been close to proving that he can make something from nothing. And this offseason was no exception as the Marlins have a whopping 73 players in their Spring Training camp.

The sole reason I wrote this blog was to air myfrustrationswith teams that try to sell their opening day roster like like that of a contender Miami Marlins opening day card is one of the worst I seen in year past. To say the least, this team basically didnothing during the offseason and now expects fans to pay to see an, at best, subpar squad. Comparing last year opening day team to this year is close to sickening. Like last season, there plenty of new faces, but none to get excited about. There also some potential, but nothing like the anticipation of Stanton rise to stardom, which was the hype around Miami club just a few years ago. Some of the others could stillcrack into Miami one through nine as well as the team but it would likely take a good showing at Spring Training.

So with prospects aside, let take a look at the other newly acquired Marlins:

Placido Polanco:Normally, I would just call Polanco washed up and move on, but there not much to move on to with this Miami team. Polanco is slated to bat second and play third base in what will be his 15th year at the big league level. Polanco used to have some value, winning a couple of gold glove awards and silver slugger honors all within the last five years. However, it clear that the 38yearold should be a parttime infielder at raidersofficialonline.com/33_tyvon_branch_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap best. Although he an above average defender still, Polanco really hasn been relevant since 2007, the last time and only time he was named an AllStar. So sure, if you the Miami Marlins, why not put him in your starting lineup? After all, it not like you in it to win it. If Miami is lucky, Polanco might hit .250 with two home runs and 40 RBIs.

Juan www.raidersofficialonline.com/33_tyvon_branch_jersey_authentic_black_limited_cheap.html Pierre:Another exPhillie that won provide much offense, Pierre still has a bit of speed in those old legs. But like Polanco, considering him a starter for any team is a complete joke. The 36yearold speed specialist should be used for one thing and one thing only: pinch running. Alright, perhaps as a defensive substitution, but that it. Pierre is really tough to judge. It seems like his bat has found a little more life in the past few seasons as he has came close to career highs in RBI and home runs. It just really hard to believe a guy can become a better hitter with age. I guess we find out during Pierre reunion tour with the Marlins this year.

Chone Figgins:Is it just me or are all of Miami free agent pickups the same player? Here another guy who could be considered washed up, even more so than the two previously mentioned players. Figgins hasn made the team yet, landing just a minor league contract with an invitation to Spring Training from the Fish this offseason. But if for some wild reason this former hero who turned zero doesn make the Marlins opening day roster, we can all pretty much wave byebye to Figgins career. Simply put, Figgins is the definition of what could been. Usually, teams tend to stay away from Tyvon Branch Elite Jersey those types of players.

Jon Rauch:This intimidating 6foot11 reliever was my favorite move of Miami offseason. Not only is he a somewhat consistent MLB setup man, he could also close for Miami if the Steven Cishek experiment turns out to be a bust. More or less, Rauch appeared in more games last year (73) than he had since he took the mound 88 times in 2007. Even better news for the Marlins is he had a decent ERA of 3.59, proving he belongs in the majors. It not exactly a good thing to claim Rauch as the veteran leader in your bullpen, but there been worse. For what it worth, I like him.

Mike Redmond:The former Florida Marlins backup catcher is now set to become the team new manager, taking over for Guillen. Hey, if it is working in St. Louis with Mike Matheny at the helm, maybe it could in Miami. I predict that a pretty fat chance, however. Like some of his colleagues, I just don believe Redmond is an MLBready manager. The highest level he coached at is high class Single A. At second glance, though, both of those gigs were in the Blue Jays farm system, so he might be a little familiar with some of the team new faces. I hope he exceeds expectations and becomes the best manager to ever coach the Tyvon Branch Black Jersey game because I actually own an autographed Mike Redmond bat.
